We’re pleased to be taking part in Techweek again this year where will be hosting two webinars. Our webinars will look into payments capabilities and innovations that can support people and organisations in an increasingly digital world. We’ll be sharing updates and expert insights into some of Payments NZ and the API Centre’s key pieces of work, including open banking and next-generation real-time payments.
Our first webinar on Wednesday 17 May will be facilitated by our API Centre team and focuses on the more technical aspects of open banking in Aotearoa including a panel discussion on the questions that are top of mind for technical leaders.
Our second webinar on Thursday 18 May will be opened by our Payments Direction team and followed by a presentation by global management consultants Accenture. They’ll discuss an architectural view of the evolution of next-generation real-time payments systems and their enabling capabilities, and the latest design of these systems around the globe.
Find out more details about our sessions below. Both our Techweek webinars are free to attend.
Deep dive into the world of open banking standards
This is a deep dive into the more technical aspects of open banking in Aotearoa with a focus on questions that are important to technical leaders.
Payments NZ’s API Centre leads open banking in Aotearoa New Zealand. In this session, Phil Cass, our API Centre Manager, will start with an update on what the centre has been working on with the industry and share insights into our areas of focus over the coming months.
A panel of experts will then offer a deep dive into the more technical aspects of open banking in Aotearoa. Our panellists will discuss the questions that are top of mind for technical leaders, such as: How does open banking work? What can be achieved using the API Centre’s standards? What are some of the key insights we’ve gained from overseas? How can our existing open banking standards support the government’s Consumer Data Right? And how do the centre’s standards fit in with the wider trend towards cross-sector designation?

Next-generation real-time systems – an architecture perspective
This is an architectural view of the evolution of real-time payments with a focus on next-generation payments ecosystems and their enabling capabilities.
We’re working with the payments industry and Accenture to consider what next-generation real-time payments capability could look like for Aotearoa.
This webinar will be opened by our Payments Direction team followed by a presentation by global management consultants Accenture who will provide insights into the configuration, architecture and capabilities of modern ‘next-generation’ real-time ecosystems. The discussion will highlight the evolution of these systems from real-time value transfer to becoming a value-added platform for broader enablement and engagement, how technical architecture has changed over time to support this move, and the exciting future capabilities and opportunities this presents. Accenture will also share their thoughts on best practise in new system design and highlights from recent implementations they have been involved in.
